Petronas Twin Towers

I found it really difficult yesterday after talking to Mum as it was her Birthday and I wasn’t there. Its a lot harder being apart from my family even though its only been a few days you just feel guilty not being there when they are all together. Also I have been having some weird dreams about giant spiders attacking me in the middle of the night to find myself curled up at the end of the bed, its hard to sleep normally in hot weather. I visited the butterfly park and the worlds largest bird park, we found out why so many peugeot cars in KL as they manufacture them in Malaysia. ( I am only just discovering about the many car designs) We toured around the city on the monorail which wasn’t as High up as I thought it would be. As the Petronas Twin Tower is something which every tourist has a look at (Mainly because its free) we had to stand in the longest cue to get a ticket at the one of the last viewing time which was 4.45p. So I went to Aqaura a giant aquarium that sat in the basement of the building and got my first student discount yay! Inside the Giant fish tank amongst all the sharks where more Malaysian flags. On the bridge between the two towers one of the tour guides asked me if I was a movie star as I looked like one which was very surprising as I had never expected that or been told that before. I am not enjoying the backpacking accommodation so much as I hate not having my own bathroom, the room is fine though. Our Indian friend at our favourite restaurant said at least the place had no bed bugs unlike the other one further done the street so its pretty good in that out look. Our last tourist thing in KL is to visit the KL tower. Will be off to Hong Kong tomorrow with an early flight out, though I have decide I really like holidays overseas travelling as every thing is new!

The start of my travels

With my new passport all blank and empty I am looking forward to filling it up, the only thing which sits inside is my China Visa awaiting for my arrival into Foshan. I have left all my family behind back at Melbourne airport waving goodbye with the feeling of half excitement and half terror at what could be waiting ahead. My first visit is to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. I have never seen so many flags of one country shown off as most have them all over their apartment buildings celebrating their 50 years of independence. Facing a long day ahead as our plane left Melbourne at 12.15am, and after 8 hours in a plane with screaming kids I was not at my best. After leaving Melbourne’s winter behind and hitting the hot humidity of Malaysia my body doesn’t know what has happened. Though travelling with Justin means I can lug a lot of heavy stuff onto him, and as my room at the backpacker joint isn’t ready till later I have my laptop the one item that I really need to study in China.

The roads are really crazy here with taxis just ramming their car into the smallest gaps in the traffic, walking along the foot path so far seems the safest way to travel. Decided to do the cultural thing and look at some Malaysian architecture, and the old homes they used to live in. Though with the religion allowing multiple wives the houses where larger to accomidate the children compared to other homes.
